Nella serata di martedì 13 ottobre si è tenuto a New York il lancio ufficiale dell'album, durante il quale alcune canzoni di Dark Sky Island sono state fatte ascoltare al pubblico presente. Questo nuovo lancio promozionale si è svolto all'interno della James Burdon Mansion, un edificio storico collocato sulla 91 strada est.
A darne notizia su Unity è stato il moderatore che ha postato il seguente messaggio corredato da foto:
Reporting to you from New York City for the Official Playback launch of "Dark Sky Island." It is an incredible honour and thrill to be here this evening.
Tonights celebration was held at the James Burden Mansion in New York City beautifully decorated for "Dark Sky Island" complete with Enya carpets and an incredibly huge album cover backdrop with the Enya logo in mirrored letters.
The event began with drinks followed by an exclusive play back of 8 tracks from Dark Sky Island including:
The Humming
So I Could Find My Way
Echoes In Rain
Even In The Shadows
I Could Never Say Goodbye
Dark Sky Island
Sancta Maria
The Loxian Gates
Encore: Echoes In Rain
The songs were, in a word, magnificent. I'm happy to discuss the songs as best as I can recall. The experience was so overwhelming I can't remember every detail, as much as I tried to. Listening, trying to remember things, finding myself caught up in emotion - I expected to wake up any moment from a dream. If I had to pick a favourite of the night, in that very moment, (excluding Echoes In Rain which we've all heard), it would be "I Could Never Say Goodbye". Sheer crystalline perfection.
For me the surprise of the evening was "Sancta Maria". Throw all preconceived ideas about this one out the window because it is stunning and surprising in many ways.
It's difficult to single out the songs - there were so many surprises in all and I cannot wait to hear them again and again.
Following rapturous applause from the guests after the encore, Enya arrived on stage to a standing ovation with Roma and Nicky at the side and thereafter mingling with the guests until the event drew to a close.

L'evento è stato preceduto nel pomeriggio da un'intervista di Enya e Nicky Ryan per l'emittente radiofonica Echoes. Sul profilo personale Facebook di John Diliberto, lo speaker che ha effettuato l'intervista ha reso noto che la stessa verrà rilasciata il prossimo 16 novembre; l'annuncio è stato inoltre accompagnato da una foto che ritrae Enya e Nicky nell'hotel di New York dove si è svolto l'incontro con la stampa.
Sulla pagina Facebook della suddetta radio è poi apparsa una foto di Enya con l'intervistatore John Diliberto.
